About nineteen miles northwest up FM 306, and a different way of living rather than a different neighborhood. Canyon Lake is Corps of Engineers shoreline, ranchland and marinas, with very few apartment communities among the houses. The ones that exist are larger-lot and quieter than anything in the city. The commute back into New Braunfels runs fifteen to twenty minutes on a normal day and longer on a summer weekend when the lake traffic turns around.
