A missing amenity is a missing feed, not a missing dog park
We publish amenities only where a community's own feed publishes them. When a community is not on the list below, that means we hold no feed for it. It does not mean the community turns dogs away, and it does not mean there is nowhere for your dog to go.

The arithmetic
What the dog adds to the monthly number
A pet fee is usually charged once and not returned. A pet deposit is usually refundable against damage. Pet rent is monthly, charged per animal, and it is the one people forget when they compare two apartments. Twenty-five dollars a month for two dogs is six hundred dollars over a twelve month lease, which is larger than most of the rent differences renters agonise over.

Fair Housing
An assistance animal is not a pet
Under the federal Fair Housing Act, a renter with a disability can ask for a reasonable accommodation in a community's rules, and an assistance animal is the most common one. When the accommodation is granted, the community's pet rent, pet deposit, breed restrictions and weight limits do not apply.

Questions renters actually ask
Does this page list every community that takes dogs?+
No, and it does not claim to. It lists communities whose own feed publishes a dog run, a pet wash or a fenced yard. Plenty of communities take dogs and publish no amenity feed at all, so a community missing from this page has not been ruled out. Ask us and we will call.
What does a dog actually cost on top of rent?+
Usually three separate charges: a one-time pet fee that you do not get back, a refundable pet deposit, and monthly pet rent per animal. Two hundred, two hundred and twenty-five a month is a common shape, which is roughly three hundred dollars over a twelve month lease on top of the fee.
What about breed and weight restrictions?+
Most communities publish a restricted breed list and a weight cap, and both are usually set by the property insurer rather than the leasing office, which is why "can you make an exception" rarely works. A handful state no breed restrictions or no weight limit outright, and those are worth knowing about if you have a large or a listed dog.
My animal is a service or assistance animal. Do these rules apply?+
No. Under the Fair Housing Act an assistance animal is not a pet, so pet rent, pet deposits, breed limits and weight caps do not apply to one. You can request that accommodation from any community. Tell us and we will raise it during the search, before you apply and before you pay a fee.
